This is a weblog addressing the political middle-left. . . from my point-of-view, of course.
An open letter to HALF THE COUNTRY!!!
Published on October 27, 2004 By Timmoth In Democrat
Dear America,
I am puzzeled. George Bush and his administration have proven to be unable to lead this country in a positive direction. The President started with a message of unity, reaching across the aisle by putting Andy Card, a Democrat and Colin Powell an Independent, in his cabinet. But then something changed. All his actions and policies have come from the FAR right? If George Bush was interested in moderate views wouldn't he have chosen them from among his cabinet and party? What does that mean for the next four years? How many of us are from the far right? Isn't that a little troubling, not only to Democrats, but also to Republicans, that someone who claims to be a man of the people is listening to a tiny voice in America?

Another thing, why is it that people who believe in Life and other Christian doctrines have to also be on board with fighting wars, prisoner abuse and the death penalty. Think about the Ten Commandments, list them off in your head. How about the Gospel, What would the Bible say about the last four years?

On a different note: I don't believe the President did anything wrong during 9-11, in fact, he was great. And he was right to go into Afganistan. But again, everything changed when he decided to go into Iraq. The entire world was with us after Afganistan. Iraq was a question, Saddam was a real bad guy. He may or may not have had Nukes. Some people think the inspectors could have found them, other people thought we had to go in to find out. We still had Allies, and we went to find out.

Ulitmately it was a good result, Saddam and his bunch were out of power and we were to be greeted with flowers and candy. That actually happened in spirit, I think. It was our moment of Glory! But this President couldn't be happy with a job well done. They had to screw it up by using private contractors for everything. Instead of putting unemployed Iraqies to work and using the regular Army to build infrastructure. Iraqies have engineers just like us. How do you think the streets were built in the first place? They wanted to make a buck off of the Iraqies. So now, the people are rebelling because they think they are being occupied. Maybe not occupied, but certainly used.

Back at home a secret administration refuses to give press conferences, won't let the general public attend a meeting with the President without signing a "I'm a faithful servant" document. And another once great idea , called the Patriot Act has be shaped into a power hungry document. Enough people believe their 2nd amendment rights are in jeopardy. Why are they willing to give up their 4th amendment rights without a fight?

My point is everything this President has done right is what we should expect of any President. But everything he and his administration have done wrong shouldn't be accepted by ANYONE!!! Not in America. We are the most powerful nation on Earth. We don't pick on little guys, ignore the Geneva Convention, make a mockery of ourselves by engaging in human rights atrocities, profit from other countries problems, and now "suppress the vote," a felony by the way, just to win an election. This is not what America is about. How many people have died to hold up our ideals? This is not what my America is about! In an administration bent on power, you have less power. With an administration bent on making money for their friends, you have less money!

It's not about Democrat or Republican. Whatever you believe you have to start by getting rid of the problem. I find it impossible to think that America wants to give up its rights, its money, and its respect in one fell swoop come November 2nd.

I favor Bush because:

1) I support his foreign policy

2) His tax cuts have helped bring back the economy

3) I strongly support his health savings account proposal

Why do you support Kerry?

BTW, your patronizing attitude wouldn't be so obnoxious if you didn't come across as so uninfirmed. Bush's domestic policies are definitely not "far right". And most of the things you really seem to object to were supported by his opponent as well.

You ask me "how can I support Bush"? I ask you then the same thing. How can you support Kerry?

HOw do I vote for Bush? Easy, he is not Kerry! I agree with about 60% of his positions, and think, while I dont like all the stuff he has done, he has done what he said he would. Kerry cant even remember what he said!
